Students
will work with and learn about adjectives by reading
an eBook, creating illustrations of adjective phrases
on their handhelds, and completing a short quiz.
|
Lesson
Goals
- Students
will learn what an adjective is.
- Students
will learn what adjectives can describe.
- Students
will apply their knowledge of adjectives by creating illustrations
and completing a quiz.
Procedures
- Begin
by beamimg the “Adjectives” eBook to students.
Have students pair up to partner read.
- Gather
for class discussion about adjectives. Reinforce that adjectives
are describing words that give more information about nouns.
- Have
students brainstorm a list of nouns. Write these on the board
(or chart paper) and number them. Explain that students will
be using adjectives to help describe these nouns.
- Using
Prize Wheel, and the numbers from the list of nouns, allow
the program to “pick” a noun (by number) for
each student.
- Challenge
students to come up with at least three adjectives that could
be used with their assigned noun.
- Using
Palm4kids, have students illustrate their phrases. They can
write each phrase below its picture. Have students share
what they created with the class (either by using a projection
system to display the handheld screen to the class, or by
getting together in small groups.)
- Wrap up
this activity by assessing student learning with the adjectives
quiz and Quizzler.
