CityZen
This is an awesome mapping application. It contains the world's major cities, capitals, countries, seas, and oceans! Students can quickly find latitude and longitude for any location. They can also find the distance between any two places on the map. CityZen also can quiz students over any and all geographical locations. This application requires three files to be installed to the Palm. Does not work well with Palm OS 5 and above.
Country Flags
Displays the flag for a nation. Students can search for flags by continent or by pattern.
Currency
Convert among dozens of world currencies. Daily updates to exchange rates can be downloaded.
Day Trader
Buy and sell six different stocks to make money.
Inflation Master
Students can enter a dollar value for any year since 1914 and find how much money that would be today.
Mapopolis
Download maps of any county in the United States at mapopolis.com. Free maps last nine days. Great for map skills. Also good for having students write expository driving directions from their home to another location in their county.
Pocket Directory
Download the free document viewer and free Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution.
Solar Wars
Students learn great economics lessons with this game. They must buy supplies low and sell when the market is high. I find it helpful to make a print out of the chart in the readme file so students can see high and low prices along with the frequency of exaggerated prices.
Trade!
Learn economic concepts by trading in and out of eight stocks.
Visit It
View a map of the United States. Tap a state to see its capital city, latitude and longitude, and more. There's also a field to record your own information for each state.
