 Schools have been using Palm handhelds and Pocket PCs for a number of years. Devices running the Palm Operating System or Windows Mobile are called PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants). PDAs made for great learning tools. There are dozens of educational applications for these devices and lots of resources for teachers. Nowadays it's difficult to find PDAs that are not also phones. iPod touch and iPad are now the handhelds of choice.
