Blog Reading Tips
There's over a year's worth of blogging in nearly 200 posts on learninginhand.com! You may not have realized it, but all of those posts are archived. When on the main blog page, only the most recent posts are displayed. To access the archived content, simply click the links on the right. For instance, clicking October 2004 will bring up blog posts about using flash cards in fun ways, a site for using Excel for unexpected tasks, and more. Clicking April 2004 will bring up a post with a link to pictures kindergartners were so kind to draw of me.
Beginning in June 2005, I switched to using the free Blogger service for this blog. This allows readers to add comments to posts. In orange below each post, you'll see a comment number. If there are comments, click the orange link for the date the the entry was posted; the comments will appear below the entry. The readers of this blog are so very insightful, so take some time to read their comments. Many times the comments include incredibly useful tips or great software suggestions.
Selecting Search from learninginhand's menu will search all pages in the site, including blog posts. Try searching for the terms "Soloway" and "pose" for a really entertaining blog entry.
Thanks for continuing to read my blog week after week. I can only hope it is as much fun to read as it is to write!

Hi Tony
I can't believe the blogs have been going this long. I usually start my day with looking at your blog right after my email.
There are so many great ideas shared that I can pass on to my teachers. Kepp up all the good work.
From one handheld geek to another:)
Speaking of blogging, KidzLog, the software I used from October 2004 until May 2005 for blogging has been updated. The major update to version 1.3 is free for registered users and includes some menu enhancements and new features, including the ability to have comments. Another major difference is a name change. It's now called KidzBlog.

I had a great night tonight.
I was finally able to give my history presentation, which was about using handhelds to teach history. I was finally able to use my blue monster of a document camera.
In the presentation I used a lot of what I learned in the November Michigan conference. A memo pad timeline to sequence. Using the address book as a data base for American Revolutionary War terms. I created a Revolutinary War Dropairs and an animation about Washington crossing the Delaware.
At the end I showed my classmates a quizzler quiz.
This was my first doing this with a group and it went fantastic. I completely enjoyed myself and time flew by.
I get to do a math presentation on Thursday, and I can't wait.

Hi Tony
Have you noticed with this service that you can post Audio Blogs for free.
I just tried the Audio Blog. Its super easy.
You just dial the phone number they provide. Type in your 4 digit pin #, Press 1, record your message, Hit 1 and your done.
The MP3 file is instantly forwarded to your blog, and you can create a heading for it in the html editor.
Hey Dale,
We are doing Sketchy's on Revolutionary war events in 3rd grade. Did you create your quiz in Quizzler?
Wendy Gallagher
I used Quiz-wiz and Novii Animator. I started using both (and purchased Novii) about two years ago.
I like Quizzler better but I'm more experienced and quicker on quizwiz (I built a whole series of Multiplication tables for my mother who works as a TA).
I created an animation on Washington crossing the Delaware. Originally I was going to do the entire Revolution (HA) and I really scaled that down.
I wish the animation programs had production logs built in so you could see the students thought process.
I really like the Novii's ability to import .bmps and .jpgs. I couldnt draw a good George Washington.
